Human beings possess both an outward form (Zahir) and an inward reality (Batin). In Islamic spirituality, Firasah, the light by which a believer sees truth beyond outward appearances, is a gift Allah places in the heart when the heart becomes polished, sincere, and aligned with divine guidance.
The Qur’an and Sunnah emphasise that Allah alone is the One who reveals hidden truths to whom He wills, and one of His Majestic Names .. Al-Batin .. Is deeply tied to this unveiling of the unseen layers of reality.
Understanding the relationship between Firasah and the Name Al-Batin opens a door to appreciating how a believer perceives truth with a clarity that goes beyond intellect and enters the realm of divine illumination.
1. What is Firasah?
Firasah (فِرَاسَة) means..

The ability to see truth with the heart before it becomes visible to the eyes.
Ibn al-Qayyim beautifully defined Firasah as..

Firasah is not guesswork, instinct, or personal opinion. It is a form of divine light placed in the believer’s heart.
The Prophetic Hadith on Firasah..
The Prophet ﷺ said..
“Beware the Firasah of the believer, for he sees with the light of Allah.” (Tirmidhi, Hasan)
This is the most direct connection between the Divine and Firasah. The believer does not “see with his eyes”, he sees with Nur-Allah, a spiritual radiance.
Firasah manifests when the heart becomes..

(2) Spiritual vision is superior to physical sight..
