Do You Believe in True Love?

Let us get one thing straight, love is not some glittery magic spell sprinkled over our lives. It is a four-letter word that gets tossed around faster than confetti at a wedding. Cute to say, easy to fake, harder to live.

So when people ask me if I believe in true love, I do not blush, I do not stumble. I tell them this, love by itself does not impress me anymore. Transparency does. Because transparency builds trust, and trust is the only foundation sturdy enough to carry love without it collapsing.

Here is the truth most people avoid, when you fall headfirst into “love,” you do not land in love, you land in illusion. Love without honesty is a dangerous game. It is like walking into a house built on sand, it might look solid, but the first storm will swallow it whole. And when it does, it does not just break the house, it breaks you.

I have learned that love without transparency is nothing more than theater. Costumes on, masks tight, lines rehearsed. Everyone playing their part until the lights cut out and you are left staring at the stranger you thought you knew. That is not love, that is performance art.

But real love?

Real love does not need a stage. It does not need scripts or spotlights. Real love shows up unfiltered. It is the quiet consistency that outshines loud promises. It is the choice made over and over, not just when it is convenient but when it is costly. It is the courage to tell the truth when a lie would be easier, and the strength to stand firm when the world shakes.

So, do I believe in true love?

Yes. But I believe in love that is born from truth, guarded by trust, and proven over time.

The rest?

Empty echoes of a word too cheapened to carry the weight of what it should mean.

Because here is the bottom line..

Real love does not knock you off your feet, it stands beside you when the world tries to.
