People will love and support you when it is beneficial, but let us be honest, that love is conditional. They clap when it suits them, they lean on you when it is convenient, and the minute you are no longer serving their script, they cut you out like a scene that did not make the director’s cut. And you know what? I will forgive, but I will dead the issue. Forgiveness is my peace, not their pardon. I am not dragging yesterday’s drama into my today.
Soon as you are out their lives, suddenly they start to miss you. They see you doing good, now it is hard to diss you. They replay every blessing you brought, every light you carried, and they choke a little on the envy that comes with it. Yeah, they will be love sick when they remember all the bad they wished you, wishing they could rewrite history and pretend they were rooting for you all along.

But here is the secret sauce, gratitude. I live with it stitched into my skin, dripping from my words, radiating from my walk. Gratitude is the glow they cannot buy, the energy they cannot fake. It makes me untouchable. It makes me whole. It is why I do not get bitter when they be mad, instead I get better. I will not allow them near me. I do not beg for love or settle for scraps. My table is full because I learned to say thank you for the crumbs, and the universe rewarded me with a feast.
